Cyborg a runnin'
|
Recently, I found myself
running 7 hours in the Nevadan Desert for a new TV show. Everyone clapped as I ran my last run and returned to the tents. "Johnny we all decided you are a Cyborg."
I felt enlivened by the blue sky and encompassing emptiness of the desert.
It was other-worldly.
Beautiful.
And, although void of life, the desert was the perfect canvas for life.
As I ran, I felt like I was escaping into the quietest place on earth. I've never felt more at awe and calm. Maybe that is why I could keep going and going, and why I never got tired of running.

I
was Pete, a plumber from San Diego and a contestant for a new
television sizzler called Running Man. There were 4 other
contestants, all
of which I grew very close to over the shoot.
Drew was the wonderful man behind the camera (seen in the first
photo, crouching). He would do anything for a good shot. Then there
was Marnix from Belgium, directing from his storyboards, Gert from
Holland, producing and stepping in wherever needed, Tony, a brilliant TV
man who lives off of his ideas, Fontessa, the sweetest producer and
friend, and Daniel, a wonderful host to the show and artist
extraordinaire.

The trip was filled with laughter, work, Reno-food, and slots. Every night after dinner we would pull out a few bucks and play slots--jokingly but also hoping to score big. My slogan for the gambling was "CASH OUT!" if anyone made money off their bets. The following photo exemplified my slogan as I won 25 cents on a dollar bet. Hilarious. Thanks Shahaub.

Who Says You Can't Win In Reno?! |
Overall, the Running Man shoot was a wonderful trip. I always enjoy new adventure and opportunity. Nothing feels better than breaking habit and having the ability to change direction for a few days. I suggest you do the same and mix it up.
Johnny, so proud of you. You are such an amazing person and deserve the best!
